Glynn Alexander

Glynn Edward Alexander, passed away at the Landmark Hospital in Joplin, MO, on Friday, May 11, 2012 at the age of 90. Glynn was born October 30, 1921 in Cleo Springs, OK, the son of the late Joseph E. Alexander and Esther Marie Lennen Alexander. Glynn grew up in Ness City, KS and later moved to Rock, KS. He graduated from Douglas, KS High School in 1939. Glynn served his country in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII in the SouthPacific Islands from July 15, 1942 to October 26, 1945. He married Jean Kelley and to this union they had three children. They later divorced. On May 22, 1953 he married Pauline Neal. and they had one daughter Glynda Kay . Glynn retired from Boeing Aircraft in November of 1983 as an aircraft mechanic. Glynn farmed and raised cattle until selling the farm in August of 1999 in Winfield where he lived for many years. He and Pauline moved to Jay, OK. Glynn was a member of the Southside Church of Christ for the 12 plus years they lived in Jay. He was active and enjoyed being a greeter. He was also a member of the American Legion and was a grand marshal with Glenn Hardiman on 2010. He was preceded in death by his daughter Glynda Kay Alexander; both his parents, six brothers: Leroy, Sam, Joe, Le Vern, Dale, and infant Earl; and one half brother Clarence Alexander. He is survived by his wife Pauline Neal Alexander of the home; adopted granddaughter Misty Grady of the home; two sons: Kelley and his wife Maria of Davenport, OK, Galen of Lake City, FL; daughter Kathie Moore and her husband Charles of Winfield, KS; six sisters: Stella Orten of Gravette, AR, Ellen Neil of Bartlesville, OK, Bonnie Schaffer and her husband Bill of Gravette, AR, Edna Schaffer of Clinton, OK, Xollie Buffer and husband Delbert of Gravette, AR, Betty Wilkins and her husband Bud of Decator,AR; two brothers Billy Gene Alexander and his wife Jennie of Sulpher Springs, AR, Wendall and his wife Willa of Gravette, AR; nine grandchildren: Kim Estabrook, David Estabrook, Towanda Estabrook, Shauna Tubbs, Joleen Moore, Clinton Moore, Kimberly Lee, Kalen Thompson, and Paul Alexander; 19 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at the Southside Church of Christ on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 1PM with Mr. Steve Stenzel, presiding. The burial will follow at the Duffield Cemetery in Jay, OK. The family will greet friends from 5PM to 7PM at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, OK on Wednesday, May 16, 2012. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, OK. Friends and family may leave notes of encouragement by viewing Glynn's Book of Memories at www.honoringmemories.com. Casket bearers will be Billy Schaffer, Bob Schaffer, Jimmy Wilkins, Paul Alexander, Warren Alexander, and Darren Lee. Honorary casket bearers will be Bud Wikins, Billy Gene Alexander, Wendell Alexander, Delbert Buffer, Bill Schaffer, and Ross Neal.
