Goldie Mae Crume passed away on her 99th birthday on June 17, 2017, at Forrest Manor Nursing Center in Dewey, OK. She was born in 1918 in Pawhuska, OK, the eighth of nine children to Luther and Lena (Dawson) Gibson. She lived her entire life in the Bartlesville/Pawhuska area. Goldie grew up in Pawhuska and graduated from Pawhuska High School in 1937, where, as a lifelong music lover, her favorite class was choir. Two days after her graduation, she and R.F. "Shorty" Crume eloped to Blackwell, OK, where they were married by her longtime Methodist minister. Goldie and Shorty lived in Pawhuska until 1942 where two of their children, Carl Luther and Ruth Marie, were born. Shorty's employer, the Love Bottling Company, moved the family to Bartlesville where sons Donald Gene and Burt Martin were born. Goldie would walk her "four little kids" from their home on Quapaw Avenue to the bottling company on Osage Street to visit their father. In 1952, the family moved to a farm in Okesa where Goldie quilted with family and friends, canned the family garden vegetables, churned butter and made cottage cheese from the dairy cows, volunteered as the voting inspector, and collected Depression glass. She refurbished her home, enjoyed visits from her grandchildren, and entertained relatives and friends. After her children were grown, she traveled with Shorty around the Midwest and West and wintered in Zapata, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.F. Crume, daughter Ruth Marie, her parents, and her eight siblings. She is survived by three sons: Carl L. Crume of Bartlesville, D. Gene Crume and wife Shirley of Guthrie, OK, and Burt M. Crume and his wife Linda of Gentry, AR. and five grandchildren: Carla Mantooth (Brooks) of Havana, KS, Carole Tucker (Ron) of Barnsdall, OK, Brian Crume, Bronda Williams (Tyson) of Oklahoma City, and Kelley Crume of Guthrie, OK. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled at Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 20, 2017, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the March of Dimes.
