Harold M. Ward, age 93 of Big Cabin, died Monday, October 4, 2010 at his home. Harold was born in Covington, Kansas on November 10, 1916, the son of Edwin Jay Ward and Mary (Johnson) Ward. He served in the United States Army during WWII from 1942-1946. On August 14, 1944 he was united in marriage to Ida Mae Stanberry and together they raised four children. Harold was a member of the American Legion, the Big Cabin Methodist Church, served on the Board of Education for Big Cabin School for numerous years, and also worked at B.F. Goodrich until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing his yard, traveling, and just being outdoors. Survivors include his children: Mickey Ward and wife Pam of Mt. Vernon, IL, Darlene James and husband John of Dewey, OK, and Eddie Ward and wife Lequetta of Vinita, sister Pearl Grunden of Vinita, six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Ida Mae Ward, daughter Lynn Gay, brothers Charles Ward and Iral Jay Ward, and sister Lorine Griffin. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Friday, October 8, 2010 at Big Cabin Cemetery with Chaplain Nancy Lawson officiating. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home.
