Harriet Frances Maddox, 89, of Grove, Oklahoma died at 11:40 p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Grandwood Sunrise Village in Grove. Harriet was born October 4, 1919 in Chatham, Massachusetts to Isaac Freeman and Eva Linden (Hawes) Howes. She graduated from Chatham High School and attended Rhode Island School of Design. Harriet was an avid birder and was a member of the Audubon Society. She also loved to garden, raising beautiful flowers and vegetables. Harriet was of the Methodist faith. She moved to Grove in 2002 from Riverdale, California. Harriet was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Rufus A. Maddox in December 2006; one brother, Freeman W. Howes; and one son, James Billingsley in 1986. Survivors include one son, John Freeman Billingsley and wife Donna of Glendale, Arizona; one daughter, Sally Ewton and husband Lloyd of Grove; one sister-in-law, Lucille Howes of Chatham; three grandchildren, Kent Cleavelin and Brian Cleavelin and his wife Susie both of Tulsa, and Brent Cleavelin and his wife Tracy of Collierville, Tennessee; three great-grandchildren, Chance Cleavelin, Devin Cleavelin, and Natalie Cleavelin all of Collierville; one niece; one nephew; and numerous family and friends. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.
