Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma 918-786-2261. Harriet Page of Jay, OK passed away surrounded by her family on Feb. 1, 2017. She was 89 years old. Harriet is survived by her children Connie DuBois of Tulsa, OK and Diane Manning of Grove, OK; her five grandchildren; and her seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sons James Robert Gaines and John David "Jack" Gaines. Harriet was born on December 30, 1927 in Oklahoma City, OK to A.J. Kaiser, of Kaiser's Ice Cream, and Mary Jo Haggerty. While raising four children, she completed nursing school to become a Registered Nurse in 1965 and opened the first full-time Indian Health Clinic in Jay, OK in 1973, where she spent much of her career. Harriet went on to become one of the first medical professionals to be licensed as both a Nurse Practitioner and Physician's Assistant in 1975. She served patients in the medical field for 46 years, both at Miami Indian Health Clinic and Integris Grove Hospital, finally retiring in 2011 at the age of 82. An avid animal lover, Harriet was a member of Northeast Oklahoma Kennel Club for many years and spent much of her free time visiting nursing homes with her therapy dogs. She was also a long-time member of the choir at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Grove and was active in and dedicated to her Catholic faith. A dedicated medical professional; a compassionate animal lover; a caring and strong mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Harriet impacted the lives of many and will be remembered and loved by all who knew her. A service to celebrate the life of Harriet Page will be held at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church on Monday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m., officiated by Father Alex Kennedy.
