Hazel Ellen Estes, 86, passed away on January 13, 2025, at Ascension St. John’s hospital in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was born on July 6, 1938, in Richwood, West Virginia, to Paul and Juanita Dickey. The family eventually moved to Borger, Texas, where Ellen grew up, finished high school, and met her future husband.

On March 30, 1956, Ellen married Robert Coleman Estes, and after a small stent in the Army and being stationed in Germany, they started their little family in the Texas Panhandle. On March 7, 1963, the couple welcomed their one and only daughter, LaDonna. Ellen worked for the United States Postal Service and later as a secretary at the First Church of the Nazarene in Amarillo. After retiring, she and Coleman enjoyed traveling and working as campground hosts, creating lasting memories along the way.

Upon the birth of their first grandson, Ellen and Coleman moved from Amarillo, TX, to Ponca City, OK to be closer to LaDonna’s family. In 2002, both families moved to Bartlesville, OK, when Arnold was relocated due to the ConocoPhillips merger.

Ellen and Coleman were weekly volunteers at the First Wesleyan Church in Bartlesville, were involved in various Bible studies as well as being devoted members of their Sunday School class. She was also a cherished member of the quilting group. Ellen’s faith, devotion, and love for her family were evident in everything she did.
