Helen Bryson

Helen Irene (Thompson) Bryson, 87 year old, Grove Oklahoma resident passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013. Helen was born on May 19, 1925 in Sedalia, Missouri to Lemuel P. and Mary (Robinson) Cole. Helen worked for several different companies throughout her life. She was a waitress at Union Station, and a hospital administrator for many years. She also worked as a computer data processor, and a debit/credit clerk. Helen moved to the grove area in 1988 and was very active in the community and a member of First Christian Church for over twenty years. Helen loved to do volunteer work for several places including many care centers She was active in A.A.R.P. and as a Silver Haired Legislature, as well as the Cherokee Indian Club. Her friends and family would say she "would volunteer for anything and everything." She was also an avid quilter and made many of them for family members. Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Art Thompson, 2nd husband, Wilbur Byron, and a brother, Delmar P. Cole. Helen is survived by a brother, John Schriver and wife Janet of Fort Madison Iowa, two nephews, three nieces and six great nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Helen will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the First Christian Church in Grove, Oklahoma. Interment will follow on Thursday February 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, Missouri. A visitation for Helen will be held on from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Helen's name to the American Cancer Society. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff at Integris Grove Hospital for their dedication and compassionate care given to Helen while she was in the hospital. The family would also like to give a special thanks to Helen's friends that came to see her and check on the rest of the family during this time.
