Helen Elizabeth Stead, 95, a long-time resident of Bartlesville, OK, went to be with her Lord on Friday, June 22, 2012. Helen was born April 17, 1917 in Dewey, Oklahoma the daughter of William and Lela Mae Fair. She was raised and received her education in Dewey, graduating high school with the senior class of 1936. In 1943, she married her long-time sweetheart, Harry B. Stead, while he was stationed in San Diego, California. They soon returned to Bartlesville where they established their home and Harry had a career with Phillips. Through the years, Helen has enjoyed golfing, playing cards with her close friends and spending time with her family, as she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She also enjoyed nature and taking in her beautiful surroundings, especially the birds who would frequent her yard. Helen was a faithful member of the First Christian Church of Bartlesville. Helen is survived by: her daughter, Marcia Penuel of Dallas, TX; son-in-law, Steve Penuel of Austin, TX; granddaughter, Julie Toussaint and her husband Marcus of Flagstaff, AZ; grandson, David Penuel and his wife Alli of Dallas, TX and two great grandchildren, Chapman Penuel and Cole Penuel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry B. Stead; and daughter, Linda Hatten. Visitation for Helen will be 9 am-8-pm on Thursday, June 28, 2012 and Friday, June 29, 2012 at Arnold Moore Funeral Home. A service to honor Helen will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the First Christian Church of Bartlesville. Memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church of Bartlesville at P.O. Box 1177; Bartlesville, OK 74005. Services are under the direction of the Arnold Moore Funeral Home.
