Hubert Bates

Hubert Bates, age 87, passed away at his residence on Friday, January 28, 2010 in Chelsea, Oklahoma. He was born November 29, 1922 in Nowata County to Fred Bates and Lorinda Doerflinger-Bates. Hubert worked as an operator for Peabody Coal and was a Veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. Hubert was married to Jo Ann Martin-Bates on June 4, 1954 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She survivors of the home, Chelsea, OK, other survivors include 4 daughters and their husbands, Ruth Annita Christenson and Dan, Oologah, OK, Debra Jo Tyner and Steve, Tahlequah, OK, Joyce Nickels and Cliff, Bartlesville, OK, Mary Silka and Less, Spiro, OK,1 son and his wife, Hubert Ray Bates and Linda, Chelsea, OK; 4 sisters, Winifred Bates, Chelsea, OK, Irene Robison, Claremore, OK, Gwen Giles, Big Cabin, OK, and Annita Coppedge and Bill, Las Vegas, Nevada.; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, February 1, at the Benjamin Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Ball Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 29, 8 a.m.-9 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, January 31, 1-5 p.m. with family being present Sunday from 2-3 p.m. On-line condolences can be left for the family at www.honoringmemories.com.
