Ina Briggs

Ina Geraldine Briggs left this world to meet her passed loved ones once again on January 5, 2014, at her home in Nowata. Gerry Briggs was born January 11, 1928, to Byron and Grace (Plecker) Epperson. She had a sister, Mae Truitt who is also deceased. Gerry met Robert Briggs at Lenapah School and they were married September 3, 1949 and were married for 64 years. They have two children, Kelly Briggs who passed away in November 2006; and Debbie Pullen who lives in Nowata and has three children, Robert and wife Shauna Parrish and their children, Caleb and Kyle; Amy and husband Michel Rush and their children, Hunter, Jessica, Megan and Micaela; Amber and husband Jody shambles and their children, Abbi and Wyatt. Gerri and Bob made their home in Eureka, Kansas for nineteen years before moving to Aurora, Colorado prior to moving to Nowata in 2007 to be close to their family. Gerry belonged to the Aurora First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. She loved her Church and family. She was very active in her church for 39 years, and she worked at interchurch which supplied clothing and food for anyone that needed assistance. She also took care of the church family elderly by taking them to doctor appointments and even stayed with ladies in the hospital if they had no family. She always had a full car for church and interchurch. Friends from the Church still come from Colorado to see her. Anyone who met Gerry loved her. She was such an amazing person with a contagious laugh and she had a wonderful smile that just lit the room. She was a special person. Many people will remember her for her cooking; she loved to feed people and was an excellent cook. She loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She is loved by many and will be missed by all. The family has wonderful memories of this amazing woman.
