J. T. Jackson, 86 year old Spavinaw resident died Wednesday June 9, 2010 at the Grove Hospital. He was born August 31, 1923 in Ketchum to Samuel Ray and Mary Elizabeth (Haddock) Jackson. On July 4, 1958 he married Geneva Minson in Vinita. J. T. was a veteran of World War II serving in g the United States Marines as a Private First Class. J. T. worked for the Haliburton Oil Company for 30 years, his work to him to many places in the world, including South America, Italy, Libya, New Mexico, Mississippi and Louisiana. J. T. retired in 1973 and moved to Pryor, until 1997 they moved to their current home in Spavinaw. He was a member of the American Legion Dale Peace Post #40 of Vinita, the Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star. J. T. enjoyed travelling, fishing, hunting, collecting just about anything, especially guns and coins. The family includes: his wife Geneva Jackson of the home, his children, J. T. Jackson, Jr. of Knoxville, Tennessee, Joy Candace Hancock of St. James, Missouri, John David Jackson of Tulsa; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brothers in-law and their wives, Don and Alma Minson of Pensacola.Bill and Margaret Minson of South Dakota, Bob and Betty Minson of Miami, and Louis and Helen Minson of Vinita. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a grandson. The funeral will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Luginbuel Chapel with Dr. Henry Haynes officiating. Military Rites and Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.
