Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita, Oklahoma (918) 256 - 5555 ~ Jake Bennett, 69 year old longtime resident of Big Cabin, Oklahoma passed away, Sunday, November 15, 2015 in Big Cabin. Jake was born on April 1, 1946 in the White Oak area of Craig County, Oklahoma also known as Bennett Hill to his parents Leeroy and Jewel (Williams) Bennett. He was a member of the White Oak Baptist Church and served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Jake was a welder and a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Boilmakers until he retired. Jake was always the life of the party. He enjoyed fishing, being a cowboy, cock fighting, gambling, playing cards, and cooking. Jake made the best cinnamon rolls around and he always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Jake was a man of his word and he will be missed by all his family and many friends. Preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; two brothers; and five sisters; Jake is survived by two sons, Jerry Wayne Bennett, Jr. and wife Michelle of Broken Arrow; James Joseph Bennett of Big Cabin; one daughter, Kimberly Florence Wood and husband Elroy of Claremore; four brothers, Leroy Bennett and wife Norma of Vinita; Bus Bennett of White Oak; Bob Bennett and wife Sammy of Vinita; and Sonnie Bennett and wife Linda of White Oak; two sisters, Dorothy Patton and husband Earl of Chelsea; and Linda Scott of White Oak; four grandchildren, Brittany Morgan of Arkansas; Brooke Bennett of Tulsa; Cody Wayne of Claremore; and Brady Glen Wood of Claremore; four great grandchildren, MacKenzie Morgan; Christian Morgan; Mason Morgan; and Bently Bennett; numerous nieces and nephews as well as many other family members and friends. There will be a public visitation from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm and a private family visitation from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Friday, November 20, 2015 at the White Oak Baptist Church with Brother Leland Bartlett officiating. Interment will follow at the White Oak Cemetery with Military Honors by the Miami, Oklahoma Veterans Detail.
