James (Shorty) Franklin Asbury, age 74, died on November 7, 2009 at his home in Eucha, Oklahoma. Shorty was a resident of Eucha Oklahoma most of his life, He was born in the Claremore Indian Hospital on October 21, 1935. Shorty was a truck driver for Simmons Industries until he retired in 1997 at the age of 62. In his earlier years, he worked on the pipeline. Shorty was married to Patty Ruth Dick on May 13, 1957 in Miami, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and stepfather. Shorty is survived by his wife Ruth, daughters Ruth Ann and her husband David Harmon of Enid, Oklahoma, Bonnie and her husband John Bishop of Eucha, Oklahoma, Teresa and her husband Steven Flaming of Jay, Oklahoma, Judy and her husband Ron Springer of Eucha, Oklahoma, ten grandchildren, and many loved ones and friends. A visitation for family and friends was held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Monday, November 09, 2009 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Jay, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the Eucha Free Holiness Church with Brother Rusty Martin officiating. Serving as pallbearers were J.R. Bishop, Ron Springer, Dalton Asbury, Michael Harmon, Steven Hicks, Minuard Roberts and Frankie King. Honorary pallbearers were Travis Haggard, Justin Haggard and Ryland Haggard. Interment was held in Eucha Cemetery, Eucha, Oklahoma. Arrangements were under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Jay, Oklahoma.
