James Claggett Jr.

James Perry Claggett, Jr., 64 year old Big Cabin resident, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013. James was born in Vinita on February 10, 1949 to James and Thelma (Davenport) Claggett. In 1968 James graduated from Big Cabin High School. He furthered his education at welding school becoming an expert in the field. James also worked numerous years in the cattle/ranching industry. He served in the United States Army from 1969-1971 earning a National Defense Service Medal. While in the Army he tested experimental artillery at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX and was in weapons development training. He was an incredible marksman. As a young boy he was saved and baptized in a small west Tulsa church. He currently was a member of the First Baptist Church of Big Cabin. Survivors include his mother Thelma Girdy, sons: Ray Claggett of Big Cabin and James Perry Claggett III of Big Cabin, grandchildren Connor & Corban Claggett as well as Brett & Jake Weaver and Kalee & Connor Chriswell, siblings: Donna Hopp of Miami, Lester Claggett of Big Cabin, William "Billy" Claggett of Tulsa, Larry Claggett of Norman, as well as daughter in law Becky Claggett, special friends and ex-spouses Rosa Maria Chase and Jane Tune, Jane's children Sherry Egnor and Brandon Chriswell (Deceased), special cousin Kenny Claggett, and numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father James Perry Claggett, Sr. and sister Shirley (Claggett) Boggs. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home with Pastor Justin Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Big Cabin Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com
