James V. Hillman, Spavinaw resident, died Sunday morning November 7, 2010 at Grove Integris Hospital at the age of 92 years. James was born on November 20, 1917 in Lehigh, Oklahoma to his parents, Edward Hector and Mary Esther (Ferris) Hillman. He served in the US Army during WWII and was awarded a Purple Heart during his tour of duty. James married the love of his life, Betty Jo. James worked for the USPS as a postal clerk. James and Betty Jo lived in Tulsa, OK until their retirement before moving to the area. They were members of the First Baptist Church of Langley, and very active in the church. James was also a member of the Good Sams, and enjoyed traveling and gardening. Prior to her death, James and Betty Jo were members of the "Tenkiller Twirlers" a square dancing group. James is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Betty Jo; a son, James Robert Hillman; and a brother, John Hillman. He leaves many loving memories with his family, son, Michael Wayne Hillman; daughters, Elizabeth Ann Hillman, and Coral Esther Cox; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made in James' memory to the American Cancer Society. The family will be having a memorial service 10:00 AM November 26, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Langley.
