James Edgar "Big Daddy" Jay, 67 year-old Cleora (The Coves) resident, died Saturday afternoon, at the St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin. He was born May 7, 1942 in Grayson County, Texas to Ody Edgar and Veda Ruth (Clark) Jay. James served his country in Vietnam, in the United States Air Force. He married Linda Jean Park on January 29, 1965 in Houston, Texas. They moved to this area 15 years ago from Cypress, Texas. James was the Sales Manager for Blitz USA in Miami; he retired in May of 2009. He was a member of the Cleora United Methodist Church and the Coves Golf Club. The family includes: his wife Linda of the home, a son, Randy Edward Jay and wife Kathy of Ft. Worth, Texas, two daughters, Jami Dudley and husband Scott, and Jodi Jay, all of Round Rock, Texas; three sisters, Louise Wetherell of Conroe, Texas, Cheryl Stokley of Hockley, Texas and Elizabeth Canino of Colorado; three grandchildren, Paige and Jayson Dudley and Alex Jay. Preceding him in death were his parents. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The Funeral service will be held Tuesday March 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cleora Methodist Church, with Pastors Roy West, Jr. and Rich Brasher officiating. The Graveside service will be held Thursday April 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Earthman's Resthaven Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com.
