Family will be receiving friends Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Benjamin Funeral Service. James "Jim" Lee Parrett, 75, of Nowata passed away October 14, 2016, at Osage Nursing Home in Nowata. He was born March 2, 1941 at Robinson Ranch in Nowata, Oklahoma to William "Bill" Parrett and Maude (Shipley) Parrett. Jim grew up in Nowata County and attended Childers school in Childers, Oklahoma. On November 16, 1959, Jim married the love of his life, Patricia "Pat" (Gooch) in Nowata, Oklahoma where they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Jim spent 55 years in the trucking business as a hot shot driver for Oilfield and Pipe Supplies for John Lee Trucking. There was never a load Jim would say no to. He had a great love for over the road trucking and lived by his motto "always be on time." Jim and Pat spent several years traveling and seeing the country while Jim was working for the trucking industry when they later made their way back home to Nowata in 1971. Jim loved to attend craft fairs as much as possible along with his love of pony pulls that he had done for 20 years. Jim had a special place in his heart for his family including his pets that were so dear to him, Maggie and Puffin. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jim was a very good man that will be missed by all who knew him. Preceding Jim Parrett in death are his parents, William and Maude Parrett; one daughter, Tammy Collier; siblings, Marion "Sonny" Parrett, Charles Parrett, Melvin Parrett; and one granddaughter, Shawna Kay Parrett. Survivors include his wife Pat (Gooch) Parrett of the home; three children, Tim Parrett and wife Carol of Nowata, OK., Steve Parrett of Nowata, OK., and Robin (Parrett) Briggs and husband Richard of Texas City, TX., eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
