James Stokely Sargent passed away April 17, 2007 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. He was born March 27, 1940 in Jonesville, Virginia, to Oscar and Georgia (McCauley) Sargent. He spent his life in the automobile parts manufacturing industry, working in maintenance. He retired from full time work in 1991. James enjoyed collecting antique automobiles, particularly convertibles. He not only enjoyed collecting cars, but enjoyed going to auto shows. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, which was why he enjoyed the Grand Lake area. James was a person who was always happy. James is survived by his companion of sixteen and one half years, Mary Gregg. He leaves a son, Richard Sargent of Afton, Oklahoma. He also leaves three step-children; Deborah Gregg of Des Moines, Iowa; Ilene Gregg of Joplin, Missouri; and James Gregg of Vinita, Oklahoma. He is also survived by one sister, Joan Webster of Independence, Kansas and two brothers; Anthony Sargent and his wife Cathy of Independence, Kansas and Lowell Sargent, also of Independence, Kansas. His nine grandchildren include: Tasha Sargent, Carrie Sargent, Joshua Sargent, Kaityn Sargent, Jacob York, Lindzee York, Jonathan Gregg, Melissa Gregg, and Christopher Karstens. Numerous cousins and other family members as well as his friends will also miss Jim. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the American Diabetes Association, in care of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church of Grove, OK, with Pastor Randy Hamill presiding. Burial will take place at the Rolston Cemetery in Afton, Oklahoma immediately following the service. Services are entrusted to Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove, Oklahoma.
