James Scott

James Scott of Monkey Island, Oklahoma, formerly of Grand Rapids, Michigan, died at 9:45 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Integris Grove General Hospital in Grove, Oklahoma. He was 88. Mr. Scott was born June 1, 1920 in Lancashire, England to William and Ellen (Brown) Scott. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corp as a Navigator during World War II from April 2, 1943 to October 14, 1945. On February 16, 1944, he married Eleanor Florence Osiwala in Detroit, Michigan. After his honorable discharge as a 1st Lieutenant, he began his employment with Eonic, Inc. in Detroit, Michigan where he was a process engineer for 33 years. Mr. Scott moved to Monkey Island one year and three months ago to be near his daughter. He was a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Grove and volunteered at the Grove General Hospital as a Cherry Red. He was preceded in death by one sister, Veronica McCoy, and an infant son, James William Scott. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Scott of Grand Rapids, Michigan; one daughter, Kathryn C. Bixler of Monkey Island, Oklahoma; two sons, Robert J. Scott and his wife Lisa of Walker, Michigan and James T. Scott and his wife Rebecca of Dearborn, Michigan; five grandchildren, Sarah Harmon and her husband Shane of Fairland, Oklahoma, Michael Scott and his wife Erin of Coopersville, Michigan, Karen Scott of Walker, Michigan, Adam Scott of Walker, Michigan, and Emma Scott of Dearborn, Michigan; one great-grandchild, Tyler Harmon of Fairland, Oklahoma. There will be a Funeral Mass at 9:00 a.m., Friday, July 11, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Father Alex Kennedy officiating. Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove, Oklahoma is in charge of arrangements. Friends and family may leave on line condolences at www.honoringmemories.com.
