James A. Shelton Obituary Pryor, OK - James A. Shelton, 83, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at Oklahoma Veterans Center in Claremore. Jim was born April 6, 1924 at Yonkers, Oklahoma to Robert Jackson Shelton and Della (Crail) Shelton. He served during World War II as a member of the US Army's 5th Cavalry. Upon his honorable discharge, Jim returned to Wagoner, Oklahoma, where he lived for many years. He later moved to Spavinaw four years and lived in Pryor for the past three years. Jim was a retired farmer who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors are two sisters, Francis Smith of Pryor and Dee Mefford of Tulsa; two brothers, Tom Shelton of Pryor and Floyd Shelton of Houston, Texas; as well as several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; by three sisters, Opal Due, Jessie Miller and Ida Reeves and by two brothers, Lloyd Shelton and Billy D. English. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Luginbuel's South Grand Lake Funeral Home, Langley, Oklahoma with Rev. Berneil Rogers officiating. Interment will be in Spavinaw/Strang Cemetery under the direction of Luginbuel's South Grand Lake Funeral Home. Military rites will be conducted by the Grove Veteran Ritual Team.
