James Stephens

James Edger "Ed" Stephens, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at his home in Copan, Oklahoma. James Edger Stephens was born March 7, 1943 in Copan, Oklahoma. He was the son of Charly Stephens and Thelma (Fiddler) Stephens. He was known as "Ed" to all who knew him. He was a lifelong resident of Copan. where he attended school in the community, and was a graduate of the Copan High School. Ed became a member of the U.S. Air Force in 1962 where he served during the Vietnam War. Upon receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1966, he returned to the Copan area. He was employed with the Reda Pump Company (now known as Schlumberger in Bartlesville, where he retired after many years of service. Ed and the former Donna Dowell were united in marriage on September 20, 1988 and they have made their home in Copan since that time. Ed was a member of the New Life Wesleyan Church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and restoring old cars. He frequently attended "swap meets" where he collected car parts for future restorations. He also enjoyed gardening and growing tomatoes. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Darrell; and two sisters, Iva Brooks and Wanda Slanker. He is survived by his wife, Donna, of the home in Copan; two children, Eddie Stephens of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Greg Hays of Owasso, Oklahoma; three grandsons, Walker Reneau, James T. Cameron and Jack Hays; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services for Mr. Stephens will be held in the Ramona Cemetery on Saturday, April 27, at 2:00 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, Bartlesville. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
