James Tinsley Jr., 76, Tulsa resident died Thursday March 24, 2011 in St. John Medical Center. James Tinsley Jr. was born on May 22, 1934 in Lenapah, Oklahoma the son of James Tinsley Sr. and Etta Mae Scott. He was raised and educated in the Lenapah area. He graduated from Lenapah High School where he enjoyed playing Basketball. James served his county in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After his military service he attended Pittsburgh State College on the GI Bill and studied Automobiles, Welding and Blueprinting. James was united in marriage with Marian L. Tinsley and they made their home in Tulsa. James worked for the City of Tulsa for 30 plus years as a master welder. After his retirement he co owned and operated J and J Fountains and fabricated and sold the indestructible vandal free drinking fountains that were installed all over the country in public parks and spaces. James will be remembered for his kind spirit and his love for his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed. James is survived by his wife Marian Laverne Tinsley of the home, four sons, Greg Tinsley of Tulsa, OK, Derick Tinsley of Tulsa, OK, Michael Tinsley of Tulsa, OK and Brian Tinsley of Tulsa, OK, Six Grandchildren and Six Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral Services will be held for Mr. Tinsley at 2:00 p.m. on March 31, 2011 at the St. Paul Baptist Church in Lenapah with Rev. James Nave officiating. Interment will follow at Hickory Creek Cemetery. Funeral Services are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service.
