Miami, Oklahoma ~ James David Welch, age 85, died at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville Arkansas on June 22, 2010. James was the son of David Jr. and Josephine (Wright) Welch and was born on November 6, 1925 in Grove, Oklahoma. James proudly served in the U.S. Navy Seabees as a Seaman First Class during World War II. James had an associate degree in Aeronautical science. James worked for the U.S. Department of Labor as a Coordinating Supervisor. James was a member of the Keetoowah Branch of the Cherokee Nation and a member of the American Legion. James is survived by his wife Betty Welch, one daughter Sharon Baumgartner of CA, one son Rodney Harnar and his wife Opal of Miami, five grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., on Monday, June 28, 2010 at the Butler Cemetery east of Grove, Oklahoma. Military honors will be provided by the Grove Veteran's Ritual Team.
