James William "Jim" Brown

May 6, 1948 — February 9, 2025

Bartlesville, OK

James William Brown, 76, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on February 9, 2025.

Jim was born in Coffeyville, Kansas, on May 6, 1948, to Roscoe Erwin and Angeline Maxine Brown of Nowata, Oklahoma. He spent the first ten years of school in Nowata, before moving to Independence, Kansas, where he graduated from high school in 1966. Thereafter, he attended Independence Junior College, before graduating from Pittsburgh State University in 1971, with a degree in business.

A career in finance, took him to many states within the USA, among those being Kansas, Indiana, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arizona, New York, Nevada, and California, and even internationally to Mexico. A few of the companies he represented were StarCraft, National Zinc Company, Ray Cammack Shows, Mr. Gasket, Flow Tech, and PaceSetter.

Moving from Indiana to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, in 1976, Jim passed the Oklahoma CPA Exam, and became the Chief Financial Officer of National Zinc Company, for a period of ten years. Of his career, this was the position he most enjoyed.

While in Indiana, Jim met Ruth Ann Kline, who he asked to marry and move with him to Bartlesville in 1976. Ruth and Jim were happily married for nearly thirty years, before her death in Phoenix, Arizona. After Ruth’s passing, Jim met and married his current wife, Theresa, in 2004.

Jim is survived by his wife of twenty years, Theresa, and his stepson Michael Kline, that he shared with Ruth. Very dear to Jim are Mike’s family, wife Gena, and children Derek, Able, and Celeste.

Jim was an OU Sooner fan his entire life, and always considered himself to be an Okie, since his parents were living in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, at the time of his birth. He was an avid golfer, and a member of Hillcrest Country Club, during his years with National Zinc. He was a member of Bartlesville First Baptist Church and Gideons International.

Services will be held at Bartlesville First Baptist Church on February 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Private interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas, where generations of Brown family members are buried. Funeral arrangements are being entrusted to Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, Bartlesville.
