Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com. James D. Woods passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the Sequoyah Pointe Living Center in Owasso. He was born on March 10, 1935 in Nowata County to Arthur William and Myrtle Mae (Pearce) Woods. James attended Alluwe schools. In 1955 he married Jackie Watson in Miami, Oklahoma. They moved to Chicago where he was an ironworker building high rise buildings. In 1995 he retired from the Ironworkers Local 1 Union in Chicago and he and his wife moved back to his home in Nowata. James enjoyed raising cattle, fishing, and hunting. He loved working, and taking care of his family. He will be missed by all who knew him. James is survived by his wife, Jackie Woods of the home; four children, Brenda Schultz and husband Terrence of Germantown, Tennessee, Timothy Woods of Nowata, Jim Woods of Homewood, Illinois, Matthew Woods and wife Rose of Chicago, Illinois, eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Myrtle Pearce and three siblings, Thelma Randall, Wayne Woods, and Dorthy Bachlor.
