Funeral services for James Lynn Youtsey will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 13, 2012, at the First Christian Church, Nowata, Oklahoma with Rev. Robert Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Nowata, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com James Lynn Youtsey was born August 24, 1915, in Arcadia, Oklahoma, to Leslie Vernon and Verna (Rogers) Youtsey. He passed from this life at his home in Nowata Monday April 9, 2012. He was 96 years old. James was educated in the Arcadia School System. On December 27 1941 he was married to Marie Brashear in Bartlesville. He then left to serve his country in the United States Army during World War II. He served in Guadalcanal, the Solomon Islands and the Philippines. James was a heavy equipment operator and retired from the U.S. Government. He built roads and irrigation canals and could operate many types of heavy equipment. In his early years he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He really enjoyed singing, and dancing. He loved playing music on his harmonica and entertaining family and friends. His family will remember his love and kindness for ever. He will be truly missed. Preceding Mr. Youtsey in death are his parents Vernon and Verna Youtsey, his wife Marie, a brother, Todd Youtsey, and a sister Pat Gohn. Survivors include a daughter Barbara Wesson of Bartlesville, a granddaughter, Vicky Yirsa and her husband Jerry, a grandson Bryan Wesson, five great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends.
