On Wednesday, July 6, 2022, Jamie Sue Clapper, loving wife and mother of two, passed away at the age of 60 after a prolonged illness.
Jamie was born on October 21, 1961 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Jim and Mary ”Suzy” Hastings. She graduated from College High School and married Tony Clapper in 1979. They raised two twin sons, Marcus James and Matthew Ray Clapper. She was involved with various animal/pet stores (Animal World, Paws for Heaven Sake, etc.) and worked with A.R.F. and S.P.C.A for a time.
Jamie’s passion was with animals. Whether it was just giving a dog a haircut or helping S.P.C.A. take homeless animals to Colorado, helping suffering animals was her mission. She participated in some obedience dog shows with her dog ”Max”, a Schipperke, early on in her marriage when her boys were young.
She was a very active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. In 1999, Jamie received a Certificate of Completion for a unique 4 year distance learning program in theological education from the Education for Ministry ("EFM") school of the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma. For a time, she was also in charge of the church Bookstore and Nursery. Jamie will be fondly remembered for her kindness and caring. She loved to laugh, and had a big heart. Jamie was very artistic and loved using lots of bold colors in her paintings and crafts.
Jamie was preceded in death by her father, Jim Hastings, and her two brothers, Randy and Gregg Hastings. She is survived by her mother, Mary “Suzy” Hastings; husband, Tony Clapper; two sons, Marcus/Heather Clapper and Matthew/Rachel Clapper; all of Bartlesville and Aunts Darlene Hastings of Bartlesville and Cathy/Gene Reagan of Savannah, GA,; a niece, Ashley of Bartlesville, and numerous cousins.
