JE Hulen Johnson, 86, of Nowata passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Jane Phillips Nowata Health Center. He was born October 5, 1927 in Granite, OK to Bessie (Landreth) and Jacob Johnson. JE graduated from Granite High School and in 1946 he enlisted in the Army Air Corps where he served his country until 1949. On June 30, 1962 he married the love of his life Geraldine (Jerry) Tautfest in Nowata. They made their home in Nowata ranching and raising three children. JE enjoyed taking care of the cattle and horses on the ranch. He liked to tinker on machinery and could fix almost anything. He also enjoyed watching college basketball especially during the March Madness NCAA playoffs. Above all he loved caring for his wife, children, grandchildren, and family. They were the most important part of his life and he enjoyed being there for them whenever they needed him. JE was a member of the First Christian Church of Nowata, and Lifetime members of the Oklahoman Cattlemen's Association, the North American Limousin Foundation and Oklahoma Limousin Breeders Association. He will be missed by all who knew him. JE is survived by his wife, Jerry, of the home; three children, Gina and husband Gene Moore of Owasso, Jeff Johnson and wife Robin of Nowata, Jay Johnson and wife Cheryl of Nowata; six grandchildren, Kristinia VanDolah, Randy VanDolah, Shandee Johnson, Seth Johnson, Samantha Johnson, Jacob Johnson; two nieces, Joyce Tweedy, Sandy Harmon. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Bessie Johnson, a brother, Morris H. Johnson, and a nephew, David Johnson.
