Jeane (Holden) Anderson, age 86, of Roanoke, Virginia, died Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Bluejacket, Oklahoma July 12, 1921 to Watson Emmons Holden and Ethel Irene (Reed) Holden, Jeane was a graduate of Bluejacket High School where she played on the girl's basketball team. She was salutatorian of her high school class and attended college in Miami, Oklahoma. After a year of college she went to work for the Grand River Dam Authority in Vinita. In 1942 she was chosen as Rodeo Queen of Vinita's Will Rogers Memorial Rodeo. Her first marriage was to Melvin A. Tilbury and it was in Vinita where she began raising her family. She was active in the First Baptist Church of Vinita where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She also sang in the church choir. She served as a Cub Scout den mother, was a member of the Garden Club and was active for several years as a Red Cross swimming instructor. In 1962 the family moved to Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Jeane continued to teach Sunday School at the First Baptist Church of Sapulpa and also served as a Campfire Girls leader. She was a member of the Sapulpa Garden Club as well as the philanthropic educational organization, P.E.O. In 1981 she married Leo Anderson of Ketchum, Oklahoma. They lived on Grand Lake where they enjoyed many years of boating, fishing and bird-watching. They also participated in craft shows in Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma where they exhibited and sold Leo's many woodworking creations. Jeane was a very active member of the United Methodist Church of Ketchum where she and Leo sang in the choir. Ever the devoted gardener, she was also a member of the local garden club. In 2006 Jeane and Leo moved to Roanoke, Virginia to be closer to her daughter, Terri Burke. Since then they have resided at the Courts of Roanoke. Jeane is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Leo Anderson of Roanoke, VA; her son, Jack R. Tilbury of Woodbridge, VA and his wife, Jean; and her daughters, Terri K. Burke of Roanoke, VA and her husband, Steven; and Judith L. Perrine of Morrison, CO and her husband, Terry. Her grandchildren are: Jill Tilbury Camp of Farmville, VA; Julie Tilbury Jones and Jennifer Tilbury Winters of Woodbridge, VA; Joseph S. Burke of Richmond, VA; and Brian P. Burke of Roanoke, VA. Her great-grandchildren are Katelyn Nicole Burke and Courtney Lynn Burke of Richmond, VA; and Jack Allen Camp of Farmville, VA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude to the members of the United Methodist Church of Ketchum for the love they have shown for Jeane over the years. In lieu of flowers it is suggested that donations be made in her name to the United Methodist Church of Ketchum. The family will receive friends from 6-7 Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The funeral will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Ketchum United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jim Bradford and Mr. Carl Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at the Bluejacket Cemetery.
