Jerry Dale Downing, lifetime resident of Delaware County, died in Joplin, Missouri on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at the age of 65. Jerry was the son of Charles Raymond and Alberta (Wasmer) Downing. He was born on June 17, 1947 in Grove, Oklahoma. After attending school at both Delaware then Grove, Jerry proudly served in the United States Army. Jerry worked as a night watchman for Cobb/Vantress, he enjoyed reading western books, wood working, gardening and playing solitaire. Jerry loved spending time with his family and cherished his grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Ben, one sister Etta, and his son Bobby Gene. He is survived by his wife Treasa (Strickland) Downing of the home, three daughters Racine Niwatha Hall and her husband Anthony, Cleva Suzetta Davis and her husband Todd, Amber Hope Bishop and her husband Josh, one son Adam Cade Spencer and nine grandchildren. Jerry is also survived by his brother Charles Downing and his wife (Diane) and five sisters Martha Tadley, Ella Mae Hughes, Emma Johnson, Jewel Elliott and Sandra Ann Matlock. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Jay, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Jay First Baptist Church with Pastor Conley Chesney officiating.
