Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita, 918-256-5555. Jerry Don Hanes, Sr. 76 year old Vinita resident, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at his home, with his family by his side. He was born on June 10, 1941 in Vinita, to Lester and Alma (Johnson) Hanes. He attended Vinita Schools, then entered the United States Army in 1958, serving more than 20 years before retiring in 1979. He was in Korea and Vietnam wars, and was also stationed in Germany, he survived terrible conditions, fighting for his country, his life and his family. Jerry married Patricia DonCarlos on June 8, 1959, they recently celebrated their 58th Anniversary. After his service in the Army, Jerry worked with his father as a plumber, worked for the Home of Hope and was in charge of maintenance for the Hornet Apartments. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, shooting skeet, traveling and being with his family. Preceding him in death were his parents, Lester and Alma Hanes, a brother, Jack Hanes and his son, Jerry Don Hanes, Jr. who passed away in 2012. The family includes; his wife Patricia of the home; three children, Shelly Ferguson of Vinita, David Hanes of Tehachapi, CA, Rusty Hanes and wife Holly of Vinita; a brother Roscoe Hanes of Catoosa; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Lewis Bunch officiating.
