Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita, 918-256-5555, -- Jerry Dean Spaulding, 73 year old Welch resident, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015 in Tulsa, with his family by his side. He was born on December 26, 1941 in Vinita to Gene and Ruth Lillian (Smith) Spaulding. Jerry graduated from Vinita High School in 1960 and later graduated from OSU Tech in Okmulgee. He was united in marriage to Judy Anne Prine on May 27, 1960 in Vinita. Jerry went to work for the Pittsburg, Kansas Fire Department, and retired from there in 1991 at the rank of Captain. After his retirement, they moved back to Craig County in April of 1992. Jerry continued to work as a school bus driver for Welch Schools and then as a concrete truck driver for Lair and Son's. Jerry was an active member of the Welch Baptist Church. He was a member of the Oklahoma Campers on a Mission, hanging sheet rock and working to help make improvements to many churches and family homes. He loved to hunt, fish, play golf and spend time with his grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, Gene and Ruth Spaulding. The family includes: his wife Judy of the home, daughters, Marcia Diaz of Welch and Melissa Shope and husband Darin of Wyandotte; one son Todd Spaulding of Wellington, Kansas; a brother, Donald Gene Spaulding and wife Ethel, a sister Glenda Ruth Hemphill and husband Clifford all of Vinita; grandchildren, Angela Spaulding, Robyn Diaz, Tyler, Jordan and William Shope and one great-grandchild, Axel Spaulding. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Sunday, September 6, 2015 at the Welch Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held Monday, September 7, 2015 at 1:30 PM at the Welch Baptist Church, with Rev. Robert Wilson officiating.
