Jewel Lucille Hale, long time Grove resident, died early Sunday morning April 4, 2010 at the Integris Grove General Hospital. She was born in Grove on October 15, 1921 to her parents Fred and Alberta Naomi (Nichols) Tomlinson. Jewel married the love of her life, James E. Hale, on August 10, 1940 in Pine Bluff, MO and they celebrated 47 wonderful years of marriage together before his death on October 5, 1987. Jewel volunteered as a "Cherry Red" at the hospital for over 20 years and also worked at the thrift store. She loved reading books, growing flowers in her garden, and most of all, spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, Doyle L. Hale. Jewel leaves many loving memories with her family, son, James E. Hale, Jr. and wife, Kathleen; daughter, Sharon S. Kuykendall and husband James; sister, Loyce Ann Baldridge; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday April 7, 2010 at the Grove First Baptist Church with Reverend James Wilder officiating. Interment will follow at Howard Cemetery.
