Benjamin Funeral Service ~~~ Nowata, Oklahoma~~~~~918-273-2700 Funeral services for Jimmy Leroy Adams are 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Nowata with Pastor Tom Tanquary officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery in Lenapah. Jimmy Leroy Adams, 53, lifelong Delaware resident, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa. He was born February 25, 1963 in Nowata to Roy and Alice (Worthington) Adams. He was a 1981 graduate of Delaware High School and a member of the Delaware First Baptist Church, eight-year member of the Delaware Town Council, and served on the Delaware Fire Department retiring as chief after 22 years of service. Jimmy coached girl's softball for many years. He enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing, helping his dad and granddad on the farm, but above all he loved caring for his family. He had a special place in his heart for all his family and will be missed by all who knew him. Jimmy is survived by his wife Susan of the home; his father and step-mother, Roy and Dawn Adams of Delaware; his mother, Alice Jenkins of Joplin, MO; a paternal grandmother, Iva Adams of Nowata; two children, Amy King and husband Tyler of Delaware, Katie Adams of the home; four sisters, Pattie Ellis and husband Gene of Bernice, OK, Jeanie Barnett and husband Brian of Edna, KS, Carol Jones of Miami, OK, Lola Adams of Joplin, MO; three step-brothers, Tim Taylor of Denton, TX, Todd Taylor and his wife Dianna of Brock, TX, Travis Taylor of Delaware, OK; a step-sister, Tawnya Taylor of Benton, AR; a special family friend, Janice Hendrickson of Delaware and many nieces and nephews including nephew, Shelby Taylor of Delaware and a Goddaughter and niece, Erin Barnett. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Bill Adams and a special family friend, Lester Hendrickson. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
