Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home of Langley. 918-782-4400 Joan Elizabeth Courts, 81 year old resident of rural Adair, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at her home on Lake Hudson. She was born on June 17, 1936 in Cushing, Oklahoma, her parents were Lewis and Goldie (McKeehan) Monroe. Joan grew up in Odessa, Texas, then moved to Oklahoma where she graduated from Broken Arrow High School. She was united in marriage to George Edward Courts on March 24, 1962 in Tulsa at the St. Mary's Parrish. They made their home in Tulsa, where she worked for the Shell Oil Company as an accounting clerk, she retired on January 8, 1992. After Joan's retirement they moved to Lake Hudson, where she enjoyed fishing for bass and crappie. She also enjoyed cross stitching and working in the yard. Joan was a Junior Olympic swimmer in her youth. She was a member of the St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Langley, and was past president of the altar society. Those preceding her in death include her parents, one brother, Richard Monroe and a son Michael Cosgrove. The family includes; her husband George of the home; children, Sharon Sue Baldwin and husband Bill of Oklahoma City, Catherine Ann Youk and husband Jeff of Wichita, KS, Brenda Gayle Smalley and husband Todd of Coyle, OK, Michael Gavin Courts of Adair; there are five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The Rosary will be held Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 6:30 PM at the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Chapel in Langley. The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, November 3, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Langley, with Father Valentine Ndebilie Officiating.
