Joanna Waldrip, 82, slipped from this life to the next on Sunday, April 15, 2012, after a courageous battle against cancer. The eldest of five children, Joanna was born to the late Fred L. Feigel and Juanita H. (Morris) Feigel on September 25, 1929, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Joanna attended College High School graduating in 1947. In her senior year, Joanna began working for Phillips Petroleum Company. After graduation, she successfully continued her career at Phillips working in various personnel capacities until her early retirement in 1985. She would work for Phillips for another eight years as a "hot-line" operator for retirees, retiring again to care for her parents. Joanna enjoyed raising her only daughter, Diana Kay. She even learned to drive in her late 30s so she and her daughter could share a car. Diana and her husband, Rick Yorman, would bless Joanna with two grandchildren, Kari Jo and Keith Allen. She loved watching them grow into responsible young adults. Joanna enjoyed cooking for her family. Although no formal invitations were sent, when she called, you knew a good meal was in store for all. She also enjoyed going out to lunch with her friends from the Class of 1947. Joanna loved shopping for her great grandchildren and finding bargains for them was a special treat. She would always wash and press the new clothes for the children so they would be ready-to-wear. She also enjoyed working the daily cryptoquote and celebrity cipher in the daily newspaper. She could tell how her day would go she said if she worked them quickly. Joanna was an avid reader and sports enthusiast for both OSU and OU. She also followed the game of golf closely. A special corner full of toys always awaited Joanna's great grandchildren, Max, Ava, Jett and Alexander. The corner was also a favorite spot for her great grandnieces. Joanna was a loving, generous and giving woman, and the focus and love of her life were her family and friends. She enriched our lives in countless ways. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Fred (Mike) L. Feigel, Jr.; a brother-in-law, Johnny Sawyer, Sr.; and a grandnephew, Clay Marshall. She is survived by her daughter, Diana Kay, her husband, Rick Yorman; granddaughter, Kari J. and her husband, Tommy Coulter, great grandchildren, Max, Ava and Jett; grandson, Keith A. and his wife Kalie Yorman and great grandson, Alexander; her brother, Morris (Duggie) A. and his wife, Judy Feigel; her sisters, Helen Sawyer; Eleanor (Ellie) and her husband James (Butch) Franks ; as well as many nieces and nephews and good friends.
