Joe Heltzel

Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita, 918-256-5555. Joe Wendell Heltzel, 73 year old long time Vinita resident, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Claremore Veterans Center. He was born on October 15, 1942 in Vinita to William Francis and Mamie Fern (Finnell) Heltzel. Joe graduated from Vinita High School, after high school he served his country in the United States Navy from 1964-1967 during the Vietnam era. He worked for Safeway/Homeland Grocery store for many years, then was the manager of the Dollar General store in Vinita. Joe was a member of the Dale Peace Post #40 in Vinita and the VFW. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and gardening in his spare time. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Laura Ann Heltzel in 1980, siblings, Wayne, Alvin and Lantie Heltzel, Eva Bethel and Emma Harp. The family includes: his son Jeff Heltzel and wife Angela of Broken Arrow, a grandson, Jaden Heltzel, two sisters, Charlotte Woolman and husband Vernon of Vinita, Annie Jones and husband Harvey of Chelsea and a brother, John Heltzel and wife Jackie of Chelsea. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The graveside service will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita, with Pastor Skip McClain officiating.
