Joseph "Joe" Mark Tappehorn lost his brave battle with cancer on Friday, February 4, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born March 20, 1955 in Sabetha, KS to Joseph Victor and Jean (Dillaplain) Tappehorn. He graduated from Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS in 1982 with a Master's Degree in Business Administration. He was employed, during his college career, at McCall's Patterns in Manhattan. Joe began his career with Conoco Inc. in Ponca City, OK in August of 1982. He met his loving wife, Tanya King, at Conoco Inc. and they were married on May 2, 1987. They resided in Ponca City, until 2003, moving to Bartlesville following the Conoco-Phillip's merger. Joe finished his 28 year career in Joint Venture Accounting, supporting the Lower 48 Business Unit. He will be fondly remembered by many friends and co-workers. Joe enjoyed sailing, photography, astronomy, square dancing, golf, and supporting his alma mater, KSU. He enjoyed sixteen and a half wonderful years with his daughter, Caitlyn Jo and shared 23 years with his beloved wife, Tanya. Joe is survived by: his wife, Tanya and his daughter, Caitlyn Jo. He also leaves: his father, Joseph Victor Tappehorn; and brother, Steve Tappehorn of Sabetha, KS; aunt, Rose Ida Tappehorn of Kelly, KS, along with, his sister, Julie Munstermann and her husband, Bruce; nephew, Brett and niece, Hannah of Auburn, KS. Joe also leaves a multitude of loving family and friends, in Sabetha, Ponca City, and Bartlesville. Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Jean (Dillaplain) Tappehorn. Family will receive friends for visitation at the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Bartlesville from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 8, 2011. Popkess Mortuary will be in charge arrangements in Sabetha, Kansas. Rosary service will take place 7:00 pm, Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the Chapel of the Popkess Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sabetha, KS. Interment will follow at Albany Cemetery, outside of Sabetha, KS. A memorial service will be held in Bartlesville, OK at 1:00 pm, Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Colonial Chapel of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
