Joe A. Woolard, 86, of Lewisville, TX went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Joe was born in Centralia, Oklahoma on May 3, 1924 to the late Art and Dolcie McCorkle Woolard. He was a Vinita High School graduate and enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17. During WWII, Joe spent some of his military career stationed in the Pacific Islands where he received seven campaign ribbons for battles fought. After he returned home from the Navy, Joe attended and graduated Oklahoma State University with a degree in advertising. He started in the newspaper business in Alva, Oklahoma worked as the advertising manager for the Miami Oklahoma Herald and later was the editor for the Claremore Progress. He became the owner in 1965 of the Sand Springs Leader Times working alongside his wife until he retired. He enjoyed RV-ing following his retirement as well as boating and fishing. Joe and his wife moved to Texas from Claremore three years ago where they enjoyed their home in Lewisville. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Roland and sisters, Mary Catherine, Maxine, Allene, Dorothy, Mabel, and Lois. He is survived by his loving wife of over 62 years, Nadine Woolard of Lewisville, Texas; Son, Kerry Woolard and wife, Dee Ann of Sand Spring, Oklahoma; Daughter, Karen Schimenti and husband, Raymond of Flower Mound, Texas; Beloved grandchildren, Shiloh Woolard-Oliver and husband, Jeff of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Alese Woolard of Joplin, Missouri; Nathan Woolard of Edmond, Oklahoma; Andrew Schmenti of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Precious Great-Granddaughter, Raden Grace of Skiatook; and one brother, Wayne Woolard of Pharump, Nevada. There will be a visitation scheduled from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., on Saturday, November 13th 2010 at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita, Oklahoma and a graveside service at 2:00 P.M., at Fairview Cemetery in Vinita.
