John Bennett

John Lee Bennett, Grove resident died early Friday morning December 3, 2010 in Miami, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years. John was born on November 19, 1934 in El Dorado, Kansas to his parents, Tillman and Anna May (Meier) Bennett. John attended schools in Wichita and in 1954 met the love of his life, Charlotte Lamb and they married on August 5, 1955 in Hutchison, Kansas. Charlotte and John had four sons. John worked as welder and Jig builder for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas until he retired. Upon retirement, John and Charlotte moved to Grove and were members of St. Elizabeth Catholic church. John loved to golf, fish, travel, and spend time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jimmy, and a son, Russell. John leaves many loving memories with his family, wife, Charlotte; sons, Tony Bennett and wife Judy, James Bennett and wife Michell, Ricky Bennett and wife Angela; brother, Melvin Bennett; sister, Betty McIntyre; grandchildren, Jeremy Zeliff, Nikki Jones, Michael Bennett, Amanda Bennett, Jessica Bennett, Jonathan Bennett, Erika Bennett, James Bennett, Anna Bennett, Julia Bennett; great-grandchildren, Keira, Korbin, Leo, Shaunna Lierman, Annie Lierman, Victoria Sparks, Joseph Sparks, Elaina Bennett; as well as many other loving family members and a host of friends. Memorials may be made in John's name to the American Cancer Society. A Graveside Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday December 6, 2010 at Havana Union Cemetery in Havana, Kansas with Father Sixtus Myint officiating.
