John Blaksley

Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home of Langley, 918-782-4400; John Robert (Bud) Blaksley, 85 year old Ketchum area resident, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at his home. He was born on February 12, 1931 in Quinlan, Oklahoma to John Roscoe and Vernie E. (Roedell) Blaksley. After high school, Bud served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he went to work for American Airlines in Oklahoma City, transferring to Tulsa in 1977 and retiring in 1992 after 35 years with the company. Bud was married to Peggy (Streetman) Blaksley for 53 years before she preceded him in death in 2009. He later married Pansy Ruth (Brooks) on May 14, 2011 in Disney at the Assembly of God Church. After transferring from Oklahoma City, Bud lived in Owasso until 1992 when he built his home in Ketchum. God was always first in Bud's life, he was faithful to his church and served as a deacon for many years. He enjoyed working in his garden, camping, fishing and traveling to Branson and other destinations. One of his greatest pleasures was his grandchildren and being a big part of their lives. Bud was also an excellent domino player. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Peggy, step-father Bill Jackson, sister and brother in-law Louise and Wesley Bird. The family includes: his wife Pansy Ruth Blaksley of the home; his children Becky Evans and husband Bill of Afton, Alan Blaksley and wife Stacey of Afton, Gregory Blaksley of Warr Acres; step-children, Quinton and Jamie Ellis of Rogers, Arkansas, Melvin and Vicki Ellis of Afton, Darren and Tammy Ellis of Celsea, Donna and Robert Peters of Collinsville, Gary Evans, Jr and Schelley of Haskell, Brian Evans of Owasso, Michael McCamey of Sapulpa; sister in-law June Maxwell, Springdale, Arkansas; five grandchildren and thirteen step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and fifteen step great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home in Langley. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at 2 PM at the Disney Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Daryl Lee officiating. Interment and Military Rites will follow at the Ketchum Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home of Langley.
