John Harkreader, Sr.

John H. Harkreader, Sr. of Grove, Oklahoma died at 4:35 p.m., Sunday, February 3, 2008 at Integris Grove General Hospital, Grove, OK. He was 82. John was born October 13, 1925 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to James Robert and Mary Magdelene (Edwards) Harkreader. He served his country from October 11, 1943 to May 15, 1946 as an Electrician's Mate 3rd Class in the U. S. Navy during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he worked for many years as a journeyman electrician in construction. He was an avid fisherman. On August 2, 1946, he married Marian Frances Thomas in Independence, Kansas. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include three sons, John Harkreader, Jr. of Tulsa, Phillip Harkreader of Muskogee, and Robert Harkreader of Muldrow; one daughter, Jackie Overfield of Independence, Kansas; two brothers; one sister; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. John has been cremated and no services are planned according to his wishes. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
