John Jarvis

Grove, Ok. - John H. Jarvis, 77, died Sunday, October 8, 2006 at Integris Grove General Hospital. John H. Jarvis was born on January 13, 1929 on the family farm in Carlisle, Arkansas to Jeff and Nellie (Gilbert) Jarvis. He served in the Korean War as a Sergeant first class Calvary Army Engineer. He returned home and married Betty Sue Drew on September 10, 1951 at Lonoke, Arkansas. Together they shared over fifty-five years of marriage. John worked for International MultiFoods most of his adult life. During that time he lived in Iowa, Indiana, Missouri and Kansas before retiring in 1991 to Grove, Oklahoma. John is preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Nellie Gilbert Jarvis of rural Carlisle, Arkansas, two brothers, S.T. Jarvis and Jeff "Junior" Jarvis, one sister, Ruby Jarvis Bolin and one grandson, Monty Johnson-Conroy. Survivors include John's beloved wife, Betty, of the home; three children, Doug Jarvis of Empire, Alabama, Pam Simons and her husband Wally of Arma, Kansas, Dyana Conroy and her husband Kirk of Girard, Kansas, and. John is also survived by two sisters, Mildred Plant and Rose Calvert, and one brother, Dwight Jarvis, all of Carlisle, Arkansas. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Chad Johnson, Michelle Yost, Michael Darr, Andrew Simons, Christopher Jarvis, Thomas Proffitt, Jackie Proffitt and Katie Conroy. His great grandchildren include Beth Yost, Bridget Yost, Wade Barnett, Raven Darr, Kaitlyn Darr, Maddie Darr, Grace Johnson and Ben Johnson. John is also survived by his mother-in-law, Bessie Drew, of Grove. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 12, 2006 at Worley-Luginbuel Chapel with Reverend Guy Morrow officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
