John E. Mahan, 95, of Bartlesville John E. Mahan passed away peacefully at home on March 8, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born August 1, 1915, in Cortland, Ohio to Cory and Mildred Mahan. He lived his childhood with brothers, Kenneth and Walter on the farm and later in Cortland. He graduated from Cortland High School. John attended Ohio University for his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He received his Doctorate at Ohio State where he met and wed the love of his life, Eva Webster. Post doctorate studies followed at the University of Illinois. John enjoyed fishing (especially for steelhead with his son in Idaho). He attended Kiwanis Club on Wednesdays and Arvest Friday bank meetings followed by lunch with the "Good Old Boys" at the Country Club. John loved to read and kept up on new advances in chemistry. John was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers and his son, Lee. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Eva and son James and his wife Susan of Lewiston, Idaho, grandson Mike and his wife Krista of Walla Walla, Washington, great granddaughters Malorie and Lexie, grandson, David and his wife, Sandra of Lewiston, Idaho, and great granddaughter, Nicole. John was a kind man who was respected by his friends and fellow workers. Most of all he loved his wife and was very proud of his family. There will be no service, and burial will be in the Mahan family plot in Cortland, Ohio. The family suggests memorials be made to the Bartlesville Kiwanis Club in John's name, or Hope Hospice.
