Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma 918-786-2261. John A. McDonald, 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 4, 2016 at his residence in Grove, Oklahoma. John was born on August 16, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of John Lewis and Irene (Grannon) McDonald. John proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. John worked for 39 years as a Work Planner for the Commonwealth Edison Utility Company, which is the largest electric utility company in Illinois, serving the Chicago and Northern Illinois area. After retiring in 1992, John and his wife Rita relocated to the Grove/ Grand Lake area. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and all kinds of sports. John was a volunteer for 15 years at Integris Grove General Hospital and a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. John was preceded in death by his parents, two children Brian McDonald and Sharon (McDonald) Steinke, one granddaughter, Amber Dawn Beamer and his sister Jean Hangsterfer. He is survived by his wife Rita Jean (Daniel) McDonald of the home, his twin brother Robert McDonald of Chicago, IL, four sons Allan McDonald and his wife Greta of Chicago, IL, Darren McDonald and wife Carol of Andover, MN, Dennis McDonald of Chicago, IL, Robert Hillyard and wife Holly of Normal, IL; three daughters Debra McDonald of Tampa, FL, Candy Breen and husband William of Chicago Ridge, IL, Patti Beamer of Grove, OK. John was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation for family and friends from 6-7 PM, Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, in Grove, OK. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m, Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Father Alex Kennedy officiating. John will be laid to rest in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
