John Smith

John Phillip Smith, 47, known to his friends as JP, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 22, 2013, while traveling in the state of Virginia. He was born on August 26, 1965, in Anaheim, California to John W. Smith and Phyllis S. (Hurst) Smith. He grew up just outside Vinita helping with the family farm, graduated from Bluejacket High School in 1983, and continued with several vocational schools during his life to work as a welder, CAD operator and truck driver. John is survived by his parents, John and Phyllis Smith, of Tulsa; the children he dearly loved, daughters Alishia and Savannah, and son Johnathan; two sisters, Lisa Hankins and husband Glenn Hankins of Tulsa, and Carla Barbour and husband Mike Barbour, with their daughter and son of Catoosa; one uncle Gary Hurst and wife Juannita of Claremore; special friend Susan McClung; as well as several cousins. John lived life to the fullest enjoying motorcycle riding, collecting baseball cards, as well as trying out any roller coaster he could find. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday April 03, 2013 at Trinity Baptist Church in Vinita, Oklahoma.
