Johnny Mac Campbell, 78, of Nowata, passed away Friday, April 20 at the Claremore Nursing Center. He was born on June 27, 1933 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to George Malcome and Naomi Ruth (Crain) Campbell. John served in the U.S. Army out of high school and was later awarded his high school diploma by Nowata High School. He married Edna Stanfield on July 20, 1954 at Owasso, Oklahoma. The couple made their home there for a time before moving to Nowata, where the Campbells have resided the past 45 years. John was a carpenter by trade and worked for the Rooney Company for 40 years, where he was shop superintendent. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 943. John enjoyed welding and tinkering with his tractor. He truly loved his work, always looking for a better, easier way to build something. His motto was "if he couldn't hammer it, he could weld it." John is survived by his wife Edna of the home, three children, Kathy Carroll and husband Bob of Rush Springs, Oklahoma, Della Parrish and husband Tom of Talala, Oklahoma, and Lester Campbell of Bushyhead, Oklahoma; one sister, Ruth Butler and husband Ronald of Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren, Kyla Clemons and husband Jason of Norman, Oklahoma, Jake Carroll of Moore, Oklahoma, Zack Parrish and wife Reina of Boca Raton, Florida and Kathryne Parrish of Talala, Oklahoma and one great granddaughter, Allison Clemons. John is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Paul Campbell and one granddaughter, Courtney Parrish.
