Johnny Lee "John" Cruse, 73 year old Big Cabin resident went to be with his Lord, on Sunday March 17, 2013 at his home, with his family by his side. He was born September 25, 1939 in Inola, Oklahoma to Art and Elsie (Jacobs) Cruse. John was a graduate of Inola High School and served his country for nine years in the United States Marine Corp from 1957 to 1965, he also served on President Lyndon B. and Lady Bird Johnson's Presidential Honor Guard. He married Barbara Joan Smithey on August 5, 1960, they lived in Broken Arrow for years, before moving to Big Cabin several years ago. John worked at the Ford Glass Plant in Broken Arrow where he was a Float Control Operator, earlier in life he was a salesman for National Life Insurance. He retired and became a farmer stockman, while Barbara does interior design for Ann and Barbara's Draperies and Interiors in Claremore. John was a member of the Big Cabin Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon (ordained in October of 1987), trustee, taught young adult Sunday school class and served on several committees. He also was on the rural water district board. John enjoyed raising cattle, mentoring young adults, feeding the wildlife, especially the birds and most of all being with his grandchildren. The family includes: his wife Barbara of the home, daughters, Shelly Chisum and husband Craig of Big Cabin, Pam Woods and husband Randy of Bentonville, Arkansas; brother Lee Roy Cruse of White Oak; grandchildren, Justin House and wife Amanda, Matt Woods and wife Allisha, Kasey Woods, Toshia Woods, Kaala House, Danielle Woods, Jonathan Chisum, Emily Chisum, McKinzie Chisum; great-grandchildren, Payton House, Jaxson House, and Anna Woods. He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-grandson, Austin House. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 22, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The celebration of life service will be held, Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Big Cabin Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, in Big Cabin, Pastors Shane Funkhouser and Larry Jackson will officiate.
