Benjamin Funeral Service - Nowata, Oklahoma - 918-273-2700 Johnny Thomas Hunter, 69, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at his home in Nowata. He was born March 11, 1947 in Clovis, New Mexico to Clay Francis Hunter and Halen Marie Calder. He was educated in Clovis and later moved to the Nowata area. Johnny worked several jobs over his life but mainly was a pump operator in the oil industry. Johnny married Wilma Jean Jones and she passed away in 2011. He really enjoyed fishing with his friend of many years, Norm. Any free time they could find they would go fishing. He loved animals and while Wilma was living enjoyed going out to the casino's. He was a kind man and will be missed by all. Johnny is survived by three children, Clay Hunter, Connie Davis, and Robyn Xan; three step-children, Billy Rodgers and his wife Dana, Eddie Rodgers, Jimmy Rodgers; a sister, Edith Talliferro; a brother-in-law, Francis "Kick" Chair; three grandchildren, Kayla Rodgers, Brittney Rodgers, Kelsey Corle al of Nowata and eight others; one great grandchild, Khaliyah Alford and three more great-grandchildren and three on the way; friend of many years Norm and Judy Weirather; many other relatives and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wilma Jean Hunter, a brother, Jerry Hunter, a sister-in-law, Jennifer "Jiff" Chair, and a great grandchild, Audrey Alford. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com. Memorial services are 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 4, 2016 at the First Church of God in Nowata with Pastor Wendell Abbott officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Benjamin Funeral Service.
