Joseph Herod

Joseph "Joe" Thomas Herod, 88, a long time resident of the Jay area passed away at Monroe Manor in Jay on Wednesday, September 28, 2011. Joe was born on September 9, 1923 in Arkansas. Joe was retired from the Military, loved to hunt and fish but really enjoyed his garden. Joe served in three branches of the United States Armed Forces. He was in the Army, Navy and Air Force; he fought in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He and his Wife Thelma (Blevins) Herod attended Mount Hermon Church. Survivors include Joe's wife of the home Thelma Herod, two children Billy Joe Herod and Mary Ann Herod both of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Three Step children Jim Bauer, Jerry Bauer both of Grove and Peggy Frazier of Jay. Along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Mr. Herod was preceded in death by one sister. Services will be on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Jay. Interment will follow in the Zena Cemetery under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay. Friends and family may leave online condolences at www.honoringmemories.com.
